Whoops. I started working on this blog post all the way back in mid-February and it's now mid-April. Life has been busy. Work is busy. Being a dad to a 9-month old is filled with busyness. My wife & I are in the middle of selling our home and buying a home (which is something I do not want to go through again...). Anyhow, let's see if I can wrap up this little blog post...

Why Android Sucks

Android sucks. At least my experience of it has. Now, I'm NOT saying that Android-sucks-therefore-Apple-is-way-better. All I'm saying is that I've had 3 Android devices so far and have had numerous really bad issues with each of them. I've owned Samsung Galaxy Note 1 (had it for 2.5 years), Nexus 7 - 2013 version (had it for less than a week because of issues), and Moto G (my current phone, which I've owned for about 3 months now).

Something I'd like to start doing in 2015 is to write a blog post after finishing a book, provided that there are at least a few key takeaways. I'm thinking that doing this will help me process the book at a deeper level and help me get more out of reading books. I want the books that I read to make a visible impact in my life and I think writing mini "book report" blog posts will help me accomplish that. I'm currently in the midst trying out Safari Books Online and the very first book I decided to read was a book that I've had on my Amazon Wish List for a very long time: Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship written by Uncle Bob.

In July of last year, I stepped into my role as the VP of Technology at Cappex where I oversee software engineering, QA, operations, and corporate IT. Now that I've been in this role for 6 months, I thought I'd take some time to jot down my thoughts about my experience thus far.

My first album Acoustic Worship is now available for purchase on CDBaby.com! Recording an album is something I've wanted to do for a very long time and I'm glad that I was able to complete this project. I started the recording process in April and it was completed shortly before my son was born in June. All of the instrument (acoustic guitar, classical guitar, keyboard, cajon, and the egg shaker, of course) and vocal tracks were recorded by me in my basement studio, which were then mixed and mastered by my friend Bernie Chae.

I upgraded both my MacBook Air and MacBook Pro to Yosemite over the weekend and I saw that both my laptops were unable to connect to internal systems at the office. For instance, I wasn't able to access my QA server by going to http://qa.cappex.local. I, however, was able to access the same server by going to http://qa/. Also, I saw that while I wasn't able to ping qa.cappex.local, nslookup worked just fine.

Ever since my son was born in late June, it's been a challenge trying to find time to work out. Since I record every one of my workout sessions, I thought I'd take a few minutes to jot down what my workout frequency has been, before Vs. after the baby. Here are the results:
